Donald, my family really surprised me with you playing at my 80th birthday. I've been around piping all my life, including traveling to Scotland and I thought I had heard good piping, but I never heard such a brilliant performance of piping until today. On behalf of our entire family, thank you so much for your wonderful performance on Sunday for my dad's 83rd birthday! My dad was in awe when he realized the pipes he was hearing were actually there in person for HIM! The setting was perfect, and you gave all of us something to remember the rest of our lives. We all reflected on times past when we either had: gone to a Highland Game, visited Scotland, took Highland dancing, saw a piper for the first time, reflected of days gone by in our childhoods of our ancestors before us, etc. Just looking over at my dad's face was, as the commercials say "priceless".
I received word from ALL who attended and how much they enjoyed it. As you and I had talked about, I'm very glad that we made the choice to do this now, rather than later, saying "Oh, how Dad would have loved to see/hear this". My dad is still talking about it, as well as sharing it with anyone he comes in contact with. And for him, that's not normally what he does :-)
From the first phone call you and I had (and emails)...to meeting you; you remained professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The informational talks were much appreciated and enjoyed by all, and was just an added bonus.
You will be the first piper we contact if we need one for a future event, and who knows..maybe we'll even see you at an upcoming Highland Games! "Hold Fast".
